Kate & Ollie - March '24

Updated: Jul 11

What a dream the past 18 months have been, Kate and Ollie definitely felt more like friends than work by the time their wedding arrived and what a wedding it was!

Taking inspiration from our Open House styling in the winter of 2022, Kate recreated the look with the help of Quirk Events by draping multi tonal green fabric lovingly around the beams and installing their super popular ladder lighting rig with jazzy light bulbs in the Main Barn. The Woodshed continued the green theme with matching table runners and napkins teamed with foliage and bud vases of neutral florals with a statement floral arch in situ to frame the new Mr and Mrs King for their first meal as husband and wife.

Kate was an extraordinary baker so took to making her own favours for her male guests and we were lucky enough to taste test her fudge samples at the final planning meeting - perks of the job right?! The boys were treated to rum and raisin or biscoff flavoured fudge whilst the ladies each had a mini potted succulent to take home and remember the special day by. Kate also managed to find time to bake her own wedding cake which looked beautiful on our oak barrel and was dressed with more foliage and fresh fruit to complement the rest of the decor - what a talent she is!

We hadn’t been blessed with the most desirable weather for quite some time, although our February and early March couples had been lucky enough to enjoy dry weather, so our fingers were firmly crossed for more of the same - at least! As we locked the barn on Good Friday after a wonderful set up day of laughter and excitement, we were dubious whether the wind and cold would clear quick enough but low and behold, the morning of the wedding saw the sun gradually appear from hazy clouds and by the time we welcomed our gorgeous pair and their guests to CHB from church, the skies were blue and the sun was out in full, so much so that drinks and canapes were enjoyed outside!

Kate and Ollie’s beloved dog, Murphy, was on-site under expert supervision from the Pet Pixie, to have some photos and generally be fussed over before retiring to the Old Coach House for an evening to himself. We made the most of the grounds whilst the light and sunshine allowed and are already eagerly awaiting their gallery and video from two talented suppliers - we know they would’ve captured some incredible memories.

As well as cake and fudge, food was very important to both our Bride and Groom, guests were definitely well fed with canapes, a three course wedding breakfast, a cake station, a cheese table and evening gyros! Good job they opted to have speeches at the end of the meal, so that guests could sit back, relax and enjoy (and digest!). Guests were clearly fuelled by food as the dance floor was heaving, the bar was packed and the shots were downed - all clear signs of a great wedding!

Congratulations to two very special individuals, we have loved every single second of your planning journey and getting to know you both throughout. You’ll be sorely missed so please come back with Murphy for a dog walk soon! Xx
