Leanne & Pete - February '24

Updated: Jul 11

What a whirlwind of a wedding journey we had together, but a fun one at that! Booking a venue six months before their ideal wedding date can be too much for some Brides, but not for Leanne, as she also decided to sell a house, buy a house and move in two weeks before the big day - what a wonder woman!

Leanne and Pete fully embraced the DIY aspect of the venue, by hand making most of their decorations and including their loved ones help the day before the wedding to achieve their vision. On their first visit, the barn was bare and in its natural state which they fell in love with so they planned minimal yet complimentary decor to put their own stamp on the Main Barn and Woodshed. Quirk Events were on hand to add some neutral drapes in the Main Barn whilst additional lighting was installed in both the Main Barn and Woodshed to create a soft, understated glow.

Both Leanne and Pete had been calm and collected throughout the planning process, never giving us any idea of the nerves that were brewing. As they arrived on-site to begin preparations, it became very apparent very quickly that both were extremely emotional and nervous about the prospect of the weekend ahead. They had so much to contend with ahead of the wedding that they didn’t have the time to overthink plans or the context of what was to come so as they walked through the Main Barn doors, it all became very real. As we always say to our couples - embrace the emotions, you are surrounded by your loved ones and it is your wedding day, there will be no judgement.

Experiencing nearly a third more rainfall than usual  in February alone and whilst preparing the barn for Leanne and Pete’s wedding earlier that week, the rain poured and poured leaving us little to no hope of a dry day for them. We refreshed the weather forecast apps continuously and had firm ‘Plan Bs’ in place for confetti and photography opportunities inside but as if by magic, the morning of the wedding saw bright blue skies filled with hazy sunshine and it stayed that way all day!

As Leanne and Pete were announced as the new Mr and Mrs, bubbles were poured and confetti was thrown in celebration of their marriage. Looking effortlessly happy and content, they were whisked off into the thick of the snowdrops buried the nearby woodland for some special couple shots as guests took their seats for dining.

Nerves were still high, so speeches were given before the wedding breakfast to ensure all of the speakers were able to enjoy their meal. Pete had arranged for a beautiful bouquet to be presented to his new wife, simply to show her just how much he adores and appreciates her - he definitely got brownie points from us for that! Maid of Honour, Evie, then took the and gave the most heartfelt speech about her Mum, it was clear to see and hear just how much Leanne was loved by all.

Congratulations to a wonderful family who clearly adore one another, we hope you continue to enjoy making memories together xx
