Sarah & Marc - March '24

Updated: Jul 11

Marc and Sarah are avid skiers and, as a result, are not afraid of colder weather! A winter wedding boasts lots of benefits and Marc and Sarah were keen to embrace them as they planned for their wedding day to take place on the 9th of March.

A winter wedding was always a consideration for Sarah and Marc from the moment they viewed Curds Hall Barn. Having two large conjoined rooms and exclusive use of the venue means that guests are free to enjoy the space without having to brave the elements unless they wish to.

On the day before the wedding, the barn was a hive of activity as Mother of the Bride and her troupe of helpers set about the task of creating beautiful floral arrangements to adorn the venue. There were large pedestal arrangements and tall vases on dining tables as well as bouquets and further arrangements for the Church ceremony.

Adding colour to the barn as part of the decor scheme really helped to personalise the barn. Sarah and Marc carried the blue, white and orange colours from the floral displays throughout the barn using coloured napkins and tableware in the Woodshed and large hanging lanterns in the Main Barn.

The underfloor heating ensured that guests received a warm welcome from Church and enjoyed drinks and canapes before some ventured outside to enjoy garden games while sheltered from the breeze under the Cartshed.

With the sun shining and bright blue skies, our newlyweds made the most of the outside space; posing for photographs with Fig the dog on the areas of hardstanding, framed by the mature landscaping in the grounds.

With guests seated in the Woodshed for the wedding breakfast, the Father of the Bride and the Groom shared a few words about our gorgeous bride before a hearty roast dinner was served - perfect for the seasonal weather! A further speech given by the Best Man allowed guests to take a breather before enjoying delicious dessert. After coffee, guests made their way into the Main Barn for a little Apre Ski - Sarah and Marc had a shot ski ready to start the party alongside their chosen cocktails of Espresso Martini and English Garden.

The beautiful three tier wedding cake was a lovingly prepared surprise from one of Sarah’s bridesmaids who did an incredible job! It was thoroughly enjoyed by guests alongside wood-fired pizza and more cocktails as the band got ready to party into the evening.

Mr and Mrs V, We wish you all the best for your first skiing trip as newlyweds (even though we think you’re a little crazy to ski in your wedding dress!!). If your wedding was anything to go by, then the Apre Ski is going to be messy! Have the best time!
