Abbie & Adam - October '22

October kicked off with a beautiful, crisp autumnal day, which was surprising given the storm we had experienced the night before!

Abbie and Adam have always been the loveliest of couples with the biggest smiles on their faces ever since they booked so we were excited to finally host their big day and see what they had planned. Throughout the planning process, it hasn’t just been Abbie and Adam involved, their beloved Cavapoo ‘Luna’ had to have her say too given she was Flower Girl.

It was the first time welcoming Elle from Sirrah Flowers on-site with her dried arrangements and drapes whilst Quirk Events were up their ladders stringing festoons and lanterns from the beams in the Main Barn. Adam was set to work securing their neon ‘The Thompsons’ sign from the mezzanine whilst Abbie and her helpers set to work adding personal touches to the venue.

With the season turning, warm and rich tones of oranges and browns mixed with textured leaves and grasses ran through the barn whilst wooden accents matched our rustic dining tables.

Abbie and her tribe were chauffeured to the barn in readiness for the ceremony in a beautiful cream VW campervan, clutching their autumnal bouquets with Luna donning her bespoke harness and flower collar to match the girls flowers.

Given how chilled Abbie has been throughout the planning process, and even on set up day, emotions ran high as soon as she stepped into the Main Barn for her interview with the registrars. After a few deep breaths, a glass of water and some extra tissues hidden in her hand behind her bouquet, Christina Perri’s ‘A Thousand Years’ started to play ready for Abbie to make her last walk as a Miss.

Announced as husband and wife, and reunited with an excitable Luna, Abbie and Adam enjoyed a glass of bubbly to themselves in the bar area whilst their guests congregated on the lawn in readiness to shower confetti over the newly weds before enjoying drinks and canapes.

As guests sat to enjoy a glass of fizz and speeches, there wasn’t a dry in the house when Abbie’s Dad said his few words. We were amazed that Best Man Tom found the time to even write his, given that he and his wife (also Bridesmaid) were proud new parents to 8 week old TWINS! Isla and Jimmy were officially the youngest guests celebrating the happy couple and were so well behaved; thankfully they didn’t steal the show too much from our beautiful Bride!

The team from B and R Dining soon emerged with platters piled high with barbecued meats for guests to dive into, before indulging in a delicious trio of desserts.

As the fire pit roared underneath the festoon lights, Abbie and Adam greeted their evening guests to join in with their celebrations. Before long, it was time for guests to gather around the wedding cake which had been lovingly displayed on a personalised wooden board and hoop, lovingly carved by Adam’s Dad. Once cut, guests filled the dancefloor in the Woodshed ready to witness Mr and Mrs Thompson’s first dance as husband and wife, before dancing the night away together.

Congratulations to the loveliest of couples, we’ll miss those smiles and Luna cuddles.
