Being a teacher, Alice was structured, organised and methodical in her approach to wedding planning. Joe also took his role of alcohol, golf, entertainment and confetti very seriously too which we must commend him for as he contributed more than an ‘average’ Groom shall we say! They (Alice!) also took our advice and had a detailed document available for her helpers to refer to the day before the wedding, to avoid the dreaded ‘what can we do next?’ question. As helpful and grateful as couples are to have the help of their family and friends, that question can actually be more stressful than helpful so we always suggest having a list of jobs allocated to helpers in advance. Alice obviously went next level and had her task list sectioned into each room and even included diagrams to make it foolproof!
Alice and Joe were so much fun throughout the planning process so we knew their friends and family would match their energy, as would their wedding. Bold and bright flowers complimented Alice’s bubbly personality and added a beautiful pop of colour to the barn, replicating the perfect summer’s day that was appearing outside.
Joe and the boys arrived suited and booted, with rustic tweed waistcoats, burnt orange ties and beautiful sunflower buttonholes to complement the setting and the season. Alice chose individual, colourful mismatched dresses for her Maids to wear which varied from sage green to coral pink and were finished with bouquets full of colour for contrast. Our beautiful Bride arrived in the glorious sunshine to marry her beau in a stunning satin, off the shoulder gown. Alice’s long flowing, tousled hair was framed perfectly by a fresh flower crown to continue the colourful tones of their wedding which was the final touch to her bridal vision as her proud Dad Martin accompanied her down the aisle.
Keen to keep guests entertained and watered throughout the drinks reception, crazy golf and croquet were set up for some fierce competition in between posing for photos and taking in the views. Alice and Joe lived out of county, as did most of their guests, so it was a real treat for them to be in our Norfolk countryside bubble and on a summer's day, you almost forget that you are in everyday life as it is so relaxing and peaceful.
Excited for food, guests made their way inside to devour a three course menu courtesy of the B and R Dining team. In between each course, speeches were given, to give guests the opportunity to sit back and let their food digest before the next delicious plateful was served!
Not only was this Alice and Joe’s wedding day, for some it was their last hurrah with the newlyweds as they had planned the mother of all honeymoons. Not one week, not two weeks but a SIX MONTH expedition around South America was planned at the end of the summer - what a way to celebrate the start of their marriage and a combined farewell!
Weddings are more than one day now, couples like to extend their celebrations across a weekend, and Alice and Joe were no different. That is the beauty of having a venue hire that spans across three days so there is no immediate rush for set up and clear down alongside having accommodation for a three night stay too. Friday evening was spent with close family and friends at a local pub for a rehearsal dinner whilst Sunday was spent strolling the local beaches in Wells - what a wholesome and special weekend for all!
Congratulations to you both, you were so much fun from start to finish and we can’t wait to hear all about your adventures upon your return.
