Anna & Ben - May '22

Anna and Ben are childhood sweethearts who have known each other since their school days. Several years, one page boy and two flower girls later, the day they became husband and wife had arrived!

Anna and Ben had a small army of helpers with them the day before the wedding as they set about transforming the barn ready for the big day. They had planned a relaxed, simplistic scheme, with statement lighting and signage, and lots of candle light.

The couple’s civil ceremony was due to take place in the Main Barn. Decor of whites, creams and soft greens, accentuated with touches of pink, complimented the white walls and exposed brickwork of the barn beautifully. Candles and bunches of greenery lined the aisle; and a copper piping frame, hung with drapes and floral arrangements, formed a backdrop for the bride and groom to exchange their vows.

Dining tables in the Woodshed were decorated with earthenware bottles filled with flowers and brass candlesticks with coloured candles. Festoon lights had been strung through the beams and a statement hot pink neon sign hung from another copper pipe frame behind the top table, reading: All You Need Is Love.

Various lighting techniques can be used to incredibly striking effect in the Woodshed with its wooden clad walls providing a dark, contrasting background.

With preparations complete, our bridal party left the barn to enjoy a relaxing evening together before returning the following morning, pampered and preened and ready for the big day. Anna and her dad arrived in a beautiful vintage car as Ben and Isaac waited excitedly at the end of the aisle.

Anna wore an intricately beaded gown with a train and an heirloom necklace of great sentimental value to her. Bridesmaids were in sage green gowns with sequined bodices which looked incredible, particularly in the low evening sunlight. But, of course, little Bella and Lilly stole the show in their lovely little dresses!

As guests took to their feet for the arrival of the bridal party, Ben was very confused to hear the theme music to Jurassic Park start playing! Unbeknownst to him, Anna had decided to play this music as the bridal march, given that it held special meaning for the couple. Initially, Ben believed that the wrong music had been played before realising that Anna had swapped it out to surprise him!

Following the ceremony, guests made their way outside where Isaac handed around confetti ready for the newlyweds to make their way down the steps onto the lawn for gin cocktails and delicious canapes. As they emerged into the sunshine, the talented Kayleigh and Archie Duo played guitar and sang ‘All You Need Is Love’, creating a wonderful atmosphere.

Guests found their seats for the wedding breakfast with the help of shot glasses that had their names printed on them. Also on the tables were bottles of homemade Limoncello! Speeches were given in between individual courses of the wedding breakfast and the final speech, from Anna’s two Maids of Honour, called for guests to charge their shot glasses with limoncello and toast the happy couple before officially declaring the dancefloor open and the party started!

Congratulations Anna and Ben, All You Need Is Love!
