Charlotte & Thea - October '23

Updated: Jul 12

Charlotte and Thea started their wedding planning from their home, almost 7000 miles away from Curds Hall Barn, in Singapore. Long distance planning definitely did not hamper their creativity though, as they pieced together their dream wedding.

Having two separate, heated, rooms meant that a downturn in the weather for the weekend did not affect plans and the wedding party spent Friday morning decorating to personalise the different internal spaces.

The Main Barn was prepared for the ceremony with swathes of cream fabric draped from the beams, a giant floral arch backdrop and flickering candles in gold holders. The warm colour palette reflected the season with rich dark greens, rusty oranges and warm golden yellows.

Seasonal flowers were used in the floral arch to emphasise the colour palette and achieve big blooms for interest. Thea and Charlotte had also made hundreds of little golden origami cranes, inspired by the Japanese legend of Senbazura which states that a person’s deepest wish will be granted if they fold 1000 cranes. These beautiful cranes were dotted around both rooms and I think it’s safe to say that both Thea and Charlotte’s wishes were granted.

The Woodshed was laid for dining with the colour palette and natural decorations being carried through the place setting by using green glassware, coloured napkins and warm burnt sienna ribbons on place cards. Festoon lights were hung from the beams to add to the magical feel of the room.

Pine cones and gin bottles of dried flowers were dotted along tables to be intermingled with boards laden with food for a table picnic style wedding breakfast.

There were nods to the couple’s time spent together in Singapore, including textured textiles, Charlotte’s beloved baskets and, of course, their signature cocktail, the Singapore Sling!

Having dressed the venue, the couple disappeared to the Old Coach House accommodation to meet with family and enjoy the log burner in the cosy sitting room, comfortable in the knowledge that everything was ready for the big day.

Both bride’s arrived under umbrellas with a convoy of Bridesmaids, ready to walk down the aisle and exchange vows. Once married, a break in the rain allowed the couple and their guests to head outside for photographs before returning to the barn for drinks and canapes.

More prosecco was poured to toast heartfelt speeches before a wedding breakfast of barbecue sharing boards and ice cream was enjoyed.

Back in the Main Barn for the evening party, guests were invited to leave a message for the happy couple, written on a music record for them to keep forever as a memento of the special day.

The tiered wedding cake had been lovingly created by Dad and was a triumph! After a ceremonious cutting, it was enjoyed by all before the DJ asked the brides to attend the dancefloor for their first dance as wife and wife.

It is clear to see how happy Thea and Charlotte make each other and we hope that continues for many many years to come. Wishing you both all the happiness in the world!
