Donah & Roy - April '24

Updated: Jul 11

The final wedding of April saw the return of April showers - a sign of good luck on your wedding day and an opportunity for some awesome photos.

Donah and Roy had been waiting a long time for this day so excitement levels were high as Donah and her crew set about making the barn their own, the day before the wedding. Dining tables were decorated with hurricane jars of candles and flowers and blush pink muslin napkins, all of which complemented the rustic feel of the barn.

Donah has a bit of a sweet tooth so there were chocolate brownie favours for all plus a donut station and an extravagant, huge 3 tier cake decorated to look like a tree trunk with the bride and groom’s initials carved in it. Donah had been looking forward to the cake so much that they decided to serve it as part of the wedding breakfast - the perfect accompaniment to coffee.

The Main Barn was decorated with statement floral decorations and a giant set of wooden letters spelling LOVE as a background to the couple exchanging their vows.

With the venue dressed, the bridal party checked in to the Old Coach House for some pampering and prosecco. The Coach House was a hive of activity and excitement on the morning of the wedding with every room full of laughter and hairspray! It really is worth putting some thought into the morning preparations ahead of time to ensure that they are as enjoyable and stress free as possible. If you are using professional hair and make up artists, it is a good idea to discuss a running order of who will be in the chair to coordinate hair and makeup. It is also important to factor in time for getting into dresses and for photographs so that you are not leaving for the ceremony feeling rushed. And finally, it is super important to make sure that everyone tries to eat something - it’s easy to forget that you would usually have had two meals by this time!

With the CHB bar open from after the ceremony, guests could select their choice of tipple to toast the newlyweds and the Mojitos were a firm favourite.

After the cutting of the cake and a hearty wedding breakfast, it was time for speeches. Speeches don’t have to be a daunting experience so if any of the speakers are nervous or anxious about speaking then it’s always worth exploring and ways that the worry can be decreased .This may be by moving the timing of the speeches or making them less formal by delivering them during a drink reception rather than either side of the wedding breakfast.

Donah and Roy’s friends and family were definitely here to celebrate and they brought the party for this lovely couple! Congratulations guys - what an incredible day!
