Hannah & Doug - March '22

Wedding season is upon us and first up in the class of 2022 was the wonderful Hannah and Doug, all the way from bonny Scotland!

Born and bred in Norfolk, it only seemed appropriate that they married in our fine county and we were thrilled that they chose Curds Hall Barn for their wedding day.

Hannah and Doug will openly admit that they are the world's most laid back couple when it comes to wedding planning, and when our first meeting took place four months prior to the big day, it was safe to say that we needed to take control and provide them with friendly (but firm!) deadlines to work towards.

Top tip: If you are someone who is overwhelmed with the thought of planning a wedding, has limited time or simply has too much going on in life, make sure you select a venue that has planning support and on the day coordination. By having the guidance and support of a team who have experience, it will not only lessen your workload but also be a stress reliever, knowing that an expert will be on hand to advise, assist and suggest wherever needed.

It was lovely to have the hustle and bustle back in the barn on set up day as well as seeing some of our lovely, recommended suppliers after a few months of downtime. Hannah and Doug had a team of helpers, all of which knew their role and quickly set to work styling the venue with foliage, floristry and fabrics.

Although the forecast had promised sunshine and blue skies, the weather had other ideas on the day itself. Umbrellas at the ready, guests soon arrived to the warmth of the Main Barn in readiness for the ceremony. Taking inspiration from our recent open house event, Hannah and Doug entrusted Quirk Events to rig up festoon lighting from the beams and selected some beautiful props, rugs and furniture pieces from Array Wedding and Event Hire to set the scene.

Hannah (and Doug!) pre-warned me that there was a high chance she would be late to her own wedding and true to her word, she was! Stepping out of the car in the most beautiful two piece Catherine Deane gown, Hannah and her three bridesmaids had one last team hug before they walked down the aisle to the acoustic sounds of Hannah’s brother playing the guitar.

With vows exchanged and Hannah and Doug finally proclaimed as husband and wife, our happy couple headed into the bar area to pimp their prosecco and celebrate with their friends and family. With canapes circulating, Camilla Andrea and Hannah’s bride tribe braved the winter weather to capture memories for our happy couple to treasure forever before quickly returning to the Barn for the wedding breakfast.

With guests seated in our cosy, candle lit Woodshed, a feast had been lovingly prepared by Gold Leaf Catering and was served to our rustic dining tables for all to enjoy before kicking back and enjoying a set of heartfelt, meaningful and memorable speeches.

Doug’s best men soon wrapped up the day’s formalities and declared the bar and dancefloor officially open for a night of partying and celebrating our happy couple.

Congratulations H&D, we loved you both and every second of your wedding day.
