Helen & David - November '21

Helen and David have been very relaxed throughout the wedding planning process and as they began to arrange their decorations in the barn, the day before the wedding, Helen was so excited to tell us that despite the disappointment of a couple of guests not being able to make the day due to illness, they would have family joining them all the way from Canada, which they had thought wouldn’t happen.

The couple enjoyed a busy but relaxed day of preparations in the barn before making their way to a rehearsal for their Church ceremony.

Metres of gorgeous hand-made bunting in shades of purple and white were hung throughout the Main Barn and the Woodshed and a polaroid photo station was set up on the mezzanine level for guests to record photographic evidence of such a special day. In the Woodshed tables were laid for dining, with hessian and lace runners and sweetie jar favours adding to a vintage feel.

Dining table names are often a great place in which to inject a little fun or silliness or to incorporate a shared interest. It can give guests a discussion point as they take their seats, acting as an ice breaker too! Helen and David definitely got on board with this and named their tables after Marvel superhero characters with a great seating plan asking that ‘Guests Assemble’! I’m sure that the character chosen for the Top Table was the subject of some fun debate.

With the big day finally here, guests arrived from Helen and David’s ceremony at nearby St George’s Church in Saham Toney, and were welcomed with drinks and canapes from the fabulous B&R Catering. Helen and David followed soon after in a VW Camper Van and, lover of the outdoors, Helen, was straight into her wellies and out into the fields for photographs!

Helen was stunning in her fitted lace gown and beautiful bolero jacket that had been lovingly hand crocheted for the occasion by her mum.

After time spent catching up and chatting, guests were invited to take their seats for dining in the Woodshed where they were served platters of barbecued goodies including marinated Thai chicken and local pork sausages followed by hot chocolate fondant with orange mascarpone and honeycomb - perfect for a blustery Autumnal day!

Following the speeches, with evening guests welcomed into the warm, it was soon time to cut the wedding cake. The top tier was decorated with the cutest little owl and puffin characters representing our happy couple and displayed alongside dozens of Helen’s homemade cupcakes on rustic log slices specially prepared by Helen’s forestry colleagues.

After their first dance as husband and wife, Helen and David invited their guests out into the starlit evening to light sparklers for some fun photographs. Then, with cake and chips to warm everyone up again, the dance floor was soon full as Mr and Mrs Milward partied into the night with their nearest and dearest.
