Holly & Mat - October '21

Holly and Mat are a very organised couple so it’s easy to see how they are able to run a successful business together, alongside other ventures. Their organisational skills certainly came into play while planning their wedding celebrations and their bridal party were all also dedicated to their roles and their to-do lists!

This talented couple incorporated personal touches from other parts of their lives through, amongst other things, Mat’s beautiful graphic designs and Holly’s delicious jam and chutney favours. They also share a passion for fine wines which was a running theme throughout the day including using corks as place card holders; as part of the gentlemen’s buttonholes and as cake toppers.

A civil ceremony held on-site in the Woodshed had a very romantic feel to it with bridesmaids dresses and floral bouquets showcasing a beautiful deep claret colour and soft lighting from fairy lights and lanterns with candles.

We love to see couples incorporating live music in their ceremony, it really does add such a special element to the atmosphere that is very difficult to explain but it is always worth it in our experience. Holly and Mat booked Adam to play piano for them and it certainly added hugely to the romantic vibes!

As guests wandered outside to gather for a confetti photograph, the sun shone down on them and drinks and canapes were enjoyed on the lawn to make the most of an unexpectedly warm day.

Guests were welcomed into the Main Barn for the wedding breakfast. Tables had been dressed with fabric runners and coloured candles; and napkins and glasses continued the claret colour scheme. Floral accents, mini jars of homemade preserves and gold cutlery were the perfect finishing touches.

We often advise couples to try and mark a couple of points in the day when they can take a moment together privately as the wedding day can be a real whirlwind of hosting and, albeit a cliche, time really does pass so quickly!

As guests admired the table plan and found their seats, our lovely couple took a moment to themselves under the Cartshed to reread their heart-felt wedding vows to each other privately. A very special part of their day together.

Our newlyweds took their seats at a sweetheart table for just the two of them as the speeches began. As well as having chosen specific wines for their wedding breakfast, Holly and Mat were keen to incorporate wedding wine tradition and each guest was given a glass of mead (or honey wine) to toast the speeches. Ancient tradition dictates that after the wedding, the couple was given enough mead to continue toasting for one month following the wedding - or one cycle of the moon - hence the term Honeymoon!

Coffee and petit fours followed the meal as guests made their way back through to the Woodshed to dance the night away to the sounds of the Casper Clarke Band. Cutting their wedding cake and a selection of delicious slider burgers fuelled the dance floor and the dance moves were impressive!

A sparkler send off was a spectacular way to end a sensational day for a couple who are clearly Drunk In Love! Congratulations to Mr and Mrs Finch.
