Jocelyn & Josh - October '21

Autumn arrived just in time to see the lovely Jocelyn and Josh become Mr and Mrs Horton.

A pizza party of twenty or more family members and close friends at the Old Coach House the night before, meant that Jocelyn and Josh’s families were firm friends ahead of their wedding day.

Bridal preparations on the morning of the wedding also took place at the on-site accommodation which allowed Jocelyn and Josh time to pay a visit to the barn to add finishing touches and let the excitement set in.

Here at Curds Hall Barn, the barn renovations and layout of two separate function rooms means that we are able to host weddings throughout the year including the cooler months. Both the Main Barn and Woodshed can provide beautiful blank canvases and it’s wonderful to see couples embrace the different seasons and really work with the colours, decor and menus that are fitting to the season.

Jocelyn and Josh were challenged by the weather with rain falling from the moment that the gorgeous bride made her way down the aisle, throughout the entire day. With a Curds Hall Barn Wedding Coordinator on hand, Jocelyn and Josh were still able to achieve all of the elements of the day that they had planned, just in slightly different locations!

Fairy lights, candles and a beautiful, unique macrame backdrop set the scene for a magical and cosy ceremony in the woodshed before guests made their way into the main barn to enjoy drinks alongside the couples’ favourite snacks of crisps and pretzels.

Getting great photographs is always a bit more challenging when the weather doesn’t allow the use of outside spaces. If the weather is against you, a photographer with plenty of experience and a passion for ‘getting that shot’ can be a real asset (even if it does mean lying on the soaking wet lawn to achieve it!) and James at James Powell Photography certainly didn’t disappoint! With a little brainstorming, we were soon able to figure out a plan to achieve both the group shots and an epic confetti shot for this special couple. Luckily, they were worth getting wet for, so we also ventured out to support them while James achieved some beautiful shots of just the two of them in the grounds later in the day.

With Jocelyn being a chef, this couple were always going to be particular about their wedding menu but they were also passionate about not having to compromise their vegan lifestyle on their big day and caterers Back to your place created a stunning vegan menu which guests raved about. Jocelyn created her own vegan wedding cake which was both beautiful and delicious and hand made vegan chocolate truffles as favours for all of her guests which were a huge hit!

Following the wedding breakfast, Frizzante Events opened the bar and with cocktails flowing and Quirk Events DJ providing the tunes, the party kicked off in the Woodshed. The rain may have persisted all day but it certainly did not dampen any spirits as a great time was had by all.

Words from the newlyweds:

Absolutely stunning venue. Eleanor was fantastic making sure the day ran smoothly. It rained all day so was great to have it all under one roof, the rain didn’t affect our day at all, doing the confetti shot from the mezzanine worked as well as doing it outside. I also loved that we could decorate the barn however we wanted. The accommodation was also amazing!
