Lisa & Jeff - June '23

Updated: Jul 12

When couples visit with us with a view to hosting their wedding at Curds Hall Barn, we are always very clear that it is super important to make the day YOUR day. Yes, we can advise you on traditional elements of a wedding day, but we also have plenty of ideas for how to mix it up if that isn’t your vibe!

When chatting with Lisa and Jeff, it was immediately apparent that family was very important to them (with a large contingent of children attending) and that neither of them were particularly looking forward to being the centre of attention on their big day. Therefore, it was important that we put together their plans with this in mind. Our immediate thoughts were entertainment and childcare support for the children, informal dining and softened formalities.

Lisa and Jeff wanted a relaxed and family-friendly day that gave them and their guests the opportunity to relax and enjoy the exclusivity of the outside space. However, an informal wedding doesn’t have to mean compromising on the overall excitement of the wedding. Instead, Lisa tailored the aspects that she did want to include in the day to suit the demographic of her guests.

Lisa loves her animals so for her it was always going to be a horse and carriage arrival. For her groom, it was a slightly noisier arrival in his stock racing car!

It was a gorgeous day for an open-air wedding. Guests were armed for the great British weather with fans, parasols and umbrellas as Lisa and her tribe of bridesmaids made their way down the aisle. An outdoor ceremony also allows space for younger children to amuse themselves while parents continue to enjoy the ceremony.

Following the ceremony, the couple’s beloved pets joined them for photographs while the children (and the big kids!) enjoyed garden games and drinks on the lawn. The Wedding Nanny was in attendance with her bell tent full of activities for the children and went down a storm with children and parents alike, as always!

Guests were invited to take their seats in the Woodshed for an afternoon tea - a great choice of menu for a summer wedding with lots of children. Lisa and Jeff had decided that they would prefer to say their thank yous in private so opted to skip speeches in favour of heading back outside for more fun and games.

A selection of food trucks and a roaming glitter bar arrived in the evening providing something for everyone and giving festival vibes to the celebrations. Meanwhile, in the barn, a photo booth, fun casino, a sweetie table and cocktails added to the party.

Lisa and Jeff created a wedding day that included all of the elements that they had dreamed of for their big day put together in a family-friendly, relaxed and super-fun way! So much fun!
