Norfolk, Scotland and Hampshire were soon to be joined in matrimony as Liz and Craig decided to return to Liz’s childhood county to become the new Mr and Mrs McCloughlin. Having been together many years, they decided to dedicate a week after becoming engaged to suss out when and where they’d like to marry the following year.
Both having careers in the food and drink industry, we knew both of those aspects would be important to them and rightly so as we always believe that if the food, drink and entertainment plans are strong, weddings will be remembered for all the right reasons!
It was so lovely to see the Old Coach House utilised on the Friday evening, to welcome their guests who travelled from afar for a hog roast supper and a chance to make acquaintances ahead of the big day. Usually, the Bridal party are hot favourites to spend the night before the wedding on-site but Craig and his Groomsmen lucked in as Liz spent the night at her childhood home with her family.
April showers kicked off Craig and Liz’s wedding day but with the reassurance of the farming contingency amongst the bridal party (and the CHB owners!), low and behold the drizzle faded, the breeze dropped and although colder than hoped, the sun shone brightly as guests arrived for a pre ceremony drinks reception. Meanwhile, Liz’s extremely efficient Bridesmaid Varnie pinned her live location so that we could track their arrival down to the last second and ensure all guests were seated, and most importantly that Craig was in position! We’ll definitely be adopting this method of accuracy moving forward, it worked seamlessly!
As we helped our beautiful Bride out of the car with her proud parents in tow, and asked her how she was feeling, her response was ‘scared’ - like most Brides! Reassuring her that Craig was now sweating with nerves, the bridal party stood in position, ready to make that final walk together with Liz as a single girl. Craig resisted turning around as his Bride made her way to him until the very last moment and his face said it all, he was blown away by how incredible she looked.
Soon after the ceremony, good friend Alex announced the newly weds onto the lawn so that they could be showered in confetti before heading back into the warmth of the barn for drinks and canapes by the team at Florentina Events. While guests mingled and congratulated our happy couple, glasses of bubbles were placed on the dining tables in readiness for their soon to be speeches. We were all eagerly anticipating the Best Men’s speech given we learnt earlier in the planning process that Craig had one too many on his stag do and ended up breaking his nose whilst operating an electric scooter so we couldn’t wait to hear their version of events, and they didn’t disappoint!
After lots of laughter, guests were treated to a feast of beef, chicken, giant prawns and accompaniments followed by Florentina’s indulgent trio of desserts. Given Craig works for Twinings and their MC owns coffee brand ‘Raw Bean’, the wedding breakfast ended with mugs of ‘proper’ tea and coffee to fuel late night moves on the dance floor, and perhaps the odd Jammie Dodger shot ;)
Congratulations to one of our favourites, you’ve been a pleasure from start to finish xx
