Verity & Joni - April '23

Updated: Jul 12

As April arrived, so did the April showers. Many cultures believe that a rainy wedding day is a good omen for a happy marriage and, knowing Verity and Joni, we can’t help but to get on board with that thinking!

Verity and Joni married in the Main Barn, one year and one day after Joni’s proposal. Is there a better way to celebrate that anniversary?!

This couple’s planning has been impeccably organised which has allowed Verity to personally craft so many aspects of their decor, which was always her wish. The styling was chic, with clean lines, classic colour combinations and statement signage which showed off the natural rustic features of the barn.

The Main Barn was decorated with glass and earthenware vessels filled with pampas grass, eucalyptus and dried orange slices for a pop of colour that reflected the barn’s brickwork. The Woodshed was ready for dining by romantic candlelight, with copious amounts of candles floating above more orange slices. Swathes of greenery adorned the beams above, bringing the room together beautifully.

Verity and Joni’s decision to use minimal florals, instead opting for greenery and dried adornments, facilitated the preparation of arrangements well in advance of the wedding. So if you are a couple who embraces the ‘do it yourself’ elements or just likes the idea of being able to see everything come together in advance of the big day itself to avoid last-minute anxiety, then dried arrangements should definitely be a consideration for you. Dried arrangements can also be hired ready-made so can be much more ecologically friendly too.

Even on an overcast day, light streamed in through the floor-to-ceiling windows, bathing the Bride and Groom in sunlight as they exchanged their vows before inviting their guests to join them for drinks and canapes.

Guests were surprised to be joined by the tremendously entertaining Hot Dogs Brass Band who filled the venue with their awesome sound and their fun personalities. Live music is such a treat for guests during a drink reception and really adds to the party atmosphere as people mingle.

Following beautiful speeches, giant wooden boards laden with barbecued meats and accompanying goodies were served to guests by B and R Dining, followed by their, ever-incredible, chocolate fondant. A fantastic choice of menu for a time of year when the weather can be unpredictable. This menu would suit both a warm and a chilly day equally well.

As guests made their way back through to the bar, it was time to hit the cocktails and grab a sweet treat as Verity and Joni cut their beautiful cake, designed and made by their sister and brother-in-law. A very romantic first dance was quickly followed by a change of dress for Verity and a change of pace for guests as the band kicked off the party.

Verity and Joni, it has been such a fun journey and we have really enjoyed sharing it with you both. We hope you continue to make each other as happy as you have been today. We will miss hanging out with you both. Enjoy Marrakech!
